Family Liaison team
HELPING YOU TO KEEP IN TOUCH!
In order to prevent the spread of COVID 19 The Trust has had to restrict visitors to the hospitals.
The trust realises how important it is for families to keep in touch especially when they are in hospital, and have developed the Family Liaison team who will;
- Help patients make contact with their families/friends/carers
- Provide communication media such as video calls for patients and their families
- Sit with patients who may be feeling lonely
- Arrange for a patient’s personal belongings to be brought to them as necessary
- Pass messages from patients to family members

Media enquiries at MFT
During office hours (Monday to Friday 9.00am – 5.00pm) all enquiries from journalists should be directed to the Communications Team via email pressoffice@mft.nhs.uk
Media queries in relation to patients must include the patient’s:
- Date of birth
- Home address
- Patient number
We cannot consider queries without these. We also need written confirmation from the patient or their Next of Kin (if they have no capacity) that we can comment on their situation.
Out of hours media enquiries
For out of hours media enquiries please contact switchboard via 0161 276 1234 and you will be directed to the on call communications lead.
Patient confidentiality
We are committed to protecting patients’ confidentiality. We cannot provide any information about a patient unless we are given permission from the individual or their next of kin.
Condition checks
We are able to give a basic condition check to the media where a named individual has been identified and the patient or their next of kin has given consent for this information to be released. Requests for condition checks should be made to the Communications Team.
